Do you want to spend 30 hours of your life reading a book with zero character development or plot? How about one that has some moderately interesting characters, but only spends a brief amount of time on them and instead focuses on the dullest and most unlikeable one? Do you like art history, but only the boring parts? Do you also like alcohol and narcotics? Then this book is for you!
Seriously, the synopsis makes this book sound way more interesting than it is. The only way I got through it is because it took me several months to read, and after putting it down I forgot how boring it was.

The first part of the book was really enjoyable, but after that Tartt starts to ramble - this book was over 800 page, and it really couldn’t have been half the length without the unnecessary words that Tartt decided to include. I found the final chapter very impactful, and Tartt’s writing really does shine through here - she is a phenomenal writer as displayed by a stream of consciousness rambling from a nihilistic main character. I still haven’t quite decided if i liked or hated this book, so rating it a 3 for now.
