A book thats main focus is on art, art interpretation, art history, artist struggles, and the muse of an artist.  The book is split into two time lines 1967 London, and early 1930s Spain at the start of the Spanish civil war. The 1967 time line was the stronger of the two the majority of the book.  That being said at the end when everything comes together both time lines were interesting.  I found the book slow at the start particularly in the Spanish time line.  I lover learning about Mrs Quick and uncovering the answers to her mystery. I think I would have liked the book better if it was written in one time line with flash backs.  That being said I am interested in picking up other books by the author.

I also enjoyed the discussion of belonging and living in a country that you weren't born in.  I enjoyed the look at what it means to create art and the process of creating. I also enjoyed seeing the discussion on how men and women artist were treated different in the early 1900s.

If you enjoy historical fiction or fiction centered on Art this would be worth picking up.
