This book was so much more than I thought it would be. I purchased it for the crime photos and was surprised at just how much I learned about the relationship between photography and law enforcement/criminal justice. The evolution of mug shots, for example, was extremely interesting.

This is another collection of old crime scene photographs.

There are a number of these types of this book available. While the photographs are graphic, they are not done in a gratuitous manner in their depiction of the human condition.
