It pains me how female authors write idiotic female leads. She has the potential to be so powerful but they make her cowardly and down right stupid. World building could have been great if the characters weren’t so unlikeable. The story has potential so I’ll give book two a tentative shot but if there isn’t great improvements I’ll probably not finish the series.

This was great! I enjoyed every second of the audio for this and loved the banter between the 2 main characters. It’s slow burn and high stakes between an inexperienced and untrained witch with so many secrets and an unbound warlock cursed to live for an eternity.

Did not really care about the main character and felt that the world building was weak, so decided to move on.
I love urban fantasy and am voraciously reading anything that resembles that genre. I came across this book and eagerly read it. I found it to be well-written, have excellent world building, and kept me eagerly reading until the end. The main character, Zoe, was an excellent, true-to-life character, and she, as well as others, had an excellent back story. As a side note, I loved how she was with her grandma. Also, I loved the side characters; they really added to the story, especially Dorian. I do have to admit, however, that at one point I wanted to smack Zoe for not coming clean with Dorian. I can’t say much as I don’t want to spoil the book, but I was like “you are smarter than that.” But, I got over it and moved on. I have never read anything by this author before, but after reading this book, I will definitely be reading more, especially future books in this series. I can’t wait to learn more about all the characters. Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-book which I reviewed voluntarily. This exact review will be posted on both Amazon and Goodreads.
Loved the book and the story but I agree. There was a little more needed with the characters. But overall a fun read.
Worst book ever, worst heroine ever, just the worst... the thing is, I ALWAYS FINISH THE BOOKS I START READING, this however was so painful to finish.
I mean the main character was hypocrite in the biggest sense of the word, she had no depth at all, and all she did was whine and rage on a person who was hiding his true identity, just like guess who..... herself!!
This character was not someone who you learned to get to know, you thought she’d walk off the next page and never come back to finish the book.

For some reason, I love to read about a con woman who has chosen this path out of destitution and the need to aid her family. It is like bittersweet chocolate. Zoe has a secret; she gained her witch's mark but cannot properly cast a Bone spell. I love this vulnerability in an otherwise strong character.
My favorite character, though, turned out to be her best friend. In a way, I would love to read a story with her best friend as the MC.

I really enjoyed this book! Zoe is a badass character who also doesn't know everything and has her own character flaws.
The plot is exciting while doing a good job of explaining how everything works and why certain things are the way they are.
I love it and can't wait for book two!

What an adventure! Zoe Bennett is full of snark, but when she’s set up to take the fall for something she didn’t do, she may just have to work with the coven who hasn’t been there for her since the loss of her parents.

This was full of action, snark, secrecy, & magic.
