This would probably be better if I cared about birds. Since I don't, I found it hard to keep track of which guy was which. Some interesting passages, but the writing is a little clunky.

Interesting story about three men who are trying for a "big year" - trying to see all of the birds on the North American birding list (and other oddities) in a year. It was amazing what people will go through to accomplish this and how much money (and time) it could take.

Good introduction to birding enthusiasts. A little tedious in parts, but I could see the interest if this was your hobby.

I read it as a suggested read for my upcoming expedition to track songbirds in Jackson Hole. Perhaps I will appreciate it more once I am more experienced in birding!

entertaining, but not my favorite birding book, reflects a bit too much the parts of birding that I dont' care for

Wow! Maybe I just liked this book so much because I am a birder, but I couldn't put it down. There was only one thing about this book that I didn't like, (and I would rate it a 4.5 if I could). First, there were occasional profanities thrown in, and the author sometimes would say something about the birds having "wild crazy sex," just to make it sound more exciting, but to me that just made it sound less professional. I loved learning the history of birders and birding through this entertaining story of 3 crazy guys who gave everything for a year of chasing birds around North America. FUN READ!

A fun non-fiction read about three obsessed birders, all trying to break the annual record for most species seen in the US and Canada. While the obsession is a bit over the top, I've always enjoyed identifying birds around the world, and the book is a good tribute to the passion for birding.

First half was good, got bored in the second half. I liked the style but it grew repetitive toward the end. A nice book nonetheless.
