If you thought this was disturbing, wait till you come to the end

It's well written, I'll say that. The whole book is basically how you get Stockholm Syndrome.

I will just say, this book is not for everyone. In fact, it might be too much for a lot of people. If you start reading it and decide it's not for you, it's alright if you need to DNF it.

This book definitely wasn’t for me. I should’ve dnf’d early. But I was compelled to finish. To consider this a romance is a major stretch. To consider this a Beauty and the Beast retelling is also a stretch. If you go to the OG story with have Stockholm syndrome matching up. I just don’t think I can even rate this book.

This book was good if you are prepared for the content. It did a good job of going into detail with some kinks and tropes that I enjoyed reading. I had mixed feelings about the ending, but I probably would've regardless of how it ended.

Both the style of writing and the timeline of the story are quite poor.

The style is very "what you see is what you get" and the actions are summarized, not narrated. For example, rather than describing how it happens, what everyone feels etc.. The author will just write "x did some shopping" or "y ate his meal". The main character's relationship with his captor also goes to zero from a hundred back to zero without it making very much sense. We have no real view inside either of their psyche -which for me is one of the main interesting sides of dark novels.

So much potential with the story but really disappointed.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - not giving 5 chilis because a lot of the sec scenes didn’t seem to be written to arouse.

This was pretty dark erotica. No plot. All smut. It features heavy non-con, physical and emotional abuse (smacking, punching, general manhandling), degradation, BDSM elements (there are no safe words so not true BDSM).

They do get an HEAz and despite the lack of plot or romance really, the HEA felt right.

17% and we're DNF'ing. This is a "dark" retelling of Beauty and the Beast. I hope Megs didn't hurt herself with that reach. Three chapters in and it's just been rape. It's supposed to be framed as dub-con but it's poorly done. Most of the people reading this book who gave it 4-5 stars need to be a bit more honest with themselves. The MC is a barely legal young man who is captured and held hostage by "Master" and yeah it's not good.
