A 3 is generous. Main character is not very like-able, but the story kept moving. The killer was obvious by about 2/3 into the book. I really enjoyed The Winter People and The Night Sister by this author, but this one was different. *Listened on Mp3

Reggie is just thirteen years old and her mother is found victim to a series of killings where the right hand is left on the steps of the police station and then places the corpses on display in town. Reggie is devastated. Years later she gets a call saying her mother was found alive at a homeless shelter. Reggie goes to investigate and on a spree to find the killer and the person responsible for keeping her mother captive for so long.

I've read a few other of Jennifer's books and like the others I sped through this one. It jumps back between when Reggie was younger and present day. But it is a very easy read. Some parts read slower than others, but then some parts were so nail biting i couldn't put the book down. ( sometimes i had too though, cus I would sneak in reading time at work. Shhhh...)

I found myself trying to guess who I thought the killer was, and even I was wrong. It had a bittersweet ending.
If you like mystery and suspense and twists, i suggest you read this book.

Creepy and suspenseful, will keep you guessing, and I couldn't put it down! Glad I won't be sleeping alone tonight!

I don't tend to go for murder mysteries, though i really should. i'm one of those people that miss all the little clues peppered along the way and therefore can maximally enjoy the big reveal(s) with honest surprise. anyway, as thrillers go, this was a pretty good one. A killer returns after 20+ years, so the story flip-flops from present to past, with the narrative of each running in parallel. The 3 stars probably more reflect my lack of interest in the genre, rather than the writing itself. I'd read more by the is author next time i'm in this kind of mood.

I read it in two sittings, if that is any indication of how much I liked it I don't know what is.

Wasn’t a bad book, it had it’s ups and downs. The author was able to capture the mind, it just had a lot of dull moments that I had to force myself to pay attention to it.

Overall it was an unexpected story, with an ending that should have been blatant but wasn’t, because it was well tied together. A deep look at someone that was able to hide and transform themselves. I would recommend reading this book if you have spare time and nothing else to read first.

This lady seriously does not disappoint!! I've loved every one of her creepy stories I have read!!

The story line was just okay and I found it somewhat predictable. I must say the editing was poorly done.

Yawn
