A pretty standard haunted house story
But, knowing that, it’s like settling in to watch a movie where you pretty much know what is going to happen, but that’s okay because it’s part of what you expect, and there’s something reassuring about that. The writing is good, and it’s an entertaining read.

Wow, this was a really good read - I couldn't put it down! I liked the creepiness of the house & the slow build, and I thought the ending was well done. Can't wait to read more by this author.
Thanks to HQ Digital & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the story, but this was more of a murder mystery than horror story, even if the house was haunted.
The story was great but I did not like the writing and the main characters' point of view. Maybe it's the narrator of the audio book, I don't know. But hey, the story was actually great, everything was used to tie all the knots in the plot.
I really thought that either the mistress was going to b the killer or the man will kill them both, and I was pleasantly surprised.

Is this a new beginning, or the beginning of the end?
Daniel and his daughter, Caitlyn, are in need of a fresh start. They move into Nightingale House, a home that Daniel and his wife, Nicole, chose together for their little family before Nicole's untimely death. Daniel has difficulty sleeping in the master bedroom, which he attributes to his grief over Nicole. But soon strange whispers, nightmares, and dripping noises begin to plague Daniel at night. Daniel begins digging into the house's past and is horrified at what he learns. Will Daniel and Caitlyn be the next chapter in Nightingale House's dark history?
Once again, I was immediately sucked into a Steve Frech thriller and could not put it down! I especially loved that this one was a paranormal thriller. This novel was beautifully written, from the description of Nightingale House, to the tragic, sordid history within its walls. I listened to the audiobook, and I enjoyed the way the narrator portrayed the characters. I could hardly wait to find out how everything would come together in the end and if Daniel and Caitlyn would be safe in Nightingale House. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves paranormal thrillers and I hope to read more stories like this from Steve Frech in the future!
