I have no idea what to say about this book honestly. By and far one of the best audiobooks i’ve ever listened to, especially the narrator for Josh. I originally got into this book through sound clips of josh quotes on tiktok and thought he was too damn funny. I knew it was a bit of a darker romance, one of the first few i’ve read and actually enjoyed. There were some parts that weren’t really my cup of tea, particularly spice-wise, but it didn’t greatly impact my enjoyment of the book.
To be honest so much happened and it was such a wild ride, this book. Alys an orphan for most of the story and then suddenly out of left field we find out she does actually have some family and they’re a part of the Italian Mob in the city like wtf?? like it wasn’t bad enough that Josh was a highly recognizable son of an infamous murderer? And honestly I was so confused by his character at some points like he has all of this trauma from growing up with his dad and being the son of a murderer but he’s into chasing Aly like prey through the woods? idk his kink shit didn’t make much sense to me considering how often he spiraled in his POV about worrying he inherited the murder gene from dear old dad. Aly being into the kinky shit made marginally more sense ,as the explained in the book, a highly independent woman who constantly has to carry the burden of life on her shoulders by herself, sole decision maker, job where she’s constantly in control and responsible for the life and wellbeing of others. Makes sense she’d like to give up that control in a relationship/in the bedroom, be more submissive, let someone else take the reigns.
Now the whole Brad storyline that came out of absolutely nowhere and that was just freaking crazy.
Anyways, I’m being much more critical in this review but honestly I was just here for the vibes and I was mostly pleasantly surprised by the spice. Suspend your disbelief and just let this story happen to you and you’ll have a great time.

Loved the first half of the book and the ending. I was expecting darker but it was a good RomCom with a little darkness sprinkled in.
