Once again- ignore the cover model :( Another over 4 star read and I have to say I appreciate the unique stories in this series. Of course, there are some similarities but each one really seems to have its own personality without feeling cookie cutter.

The graphic art by the author is a really nice touch. I love cars so this was a home run for me! Nero is just the anti-hero I needed and I liked seeing Camille willing to go dark with him rather than having him change to be clean and nice. I guess that is a theme, these men are dark and dangerous and each woman is making the choice to go dark with them instead of trying to change them. Even Nessa.

They had a little bit of history that set the foundation for their relationship which HAD to be unique because- Nero.

This felt organic, the attraction and respect between them building into love AS THEY PLAN A HEIST. Shakes head. Well, it worked. I just did not like the dirty cop angle, him forcing Camille to sell Molly and be an informant. The Molly ingestion scene was classic and totally broke the walls down between them.

I love the Family dynamic as well, both Seb and Dante give Nero shit but ultimately they all have a deep loyalty.
During the break-in:
“Cut it a little smaller why don’t you,” Seb grunts.
“I forgot I had Groot coming after me,” I say.

Not my favorite of the series, but still a solid read. It was more of a slower burn than the rest of the books.

It felt like it’s missing that edge that keeps you on your toes. Nero is supposed to be the scary badass of the brothers but it wasn't really showing through in his story.

Nero and Camille’s relationship was not believable to me and did not build up enough, it’s like they didn’t like each other one minute and then all of a sudden were all they could think about.

On to the next story. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other siblings.

This book is a mafia Shameless meets Fast and Furious. I fucking loved it. Camille is definitely Fiona Gallagher! This was, by far, the best book in the series so far. I found Nero and Camille to be the most likable couple with the best back story.

First Read - 4 STARS, Second Read - 5 STARS

I was sent an eARC of the new edition of Savage Lover (includes a new bonus scene and new art) by NetGalley and Bloom Books for an honest review.

Bank heists? Car chases? Fast and Furious type car races? Mafia? Spice? A genuine connection between the love interests?
If you like any of those things, you will love this book.

There are 3 specific things that make Sophie Lark an instant buy author for me:
1. Playlists (she includes a playlist in every single book and even puts them in throughout the chapters so it can really immerse you into the story and listen while you read certain scenes)
2. Character Art (Seriously, the character art included throughout is insane.)
3. Research (You can tell in every book she writes that she has researched every interest that the MC's could possible have. There is a wealth of info)

Savage Lover is about Nero and Camille, two people who grew up very differently but in the same circles. Nero comes from an Italian Mafia family with a crap ton of money, and a lot of dark secrets. Camille on the other hand, is the daughter of a struggling mechanic who taught her everything he knows, and the sister of a kid genius. She grew up poor, but always had a strong backbone. She's struggling with bills, her father being sick, paying for her brothers college and the problems just keep getting piled on until she gets tricked into a deal with a slimy police officer. Now she's having to do things and put herself in situations entirely out of her comfort zone, which puts her directly into Nero's orbit. Nero and Camille are completely different people with opposite lives, but they have common interests and values, and they quickly realize that there's a burning chemistry between them. And boy, is it HOT.

I seriously love this entire series. Callum and Aida will always be my favorites, but after getting to read Nero and Camille's story for a second time, I think they're definitely a close second. Nero is just so wholesome, and Camille is the type of strong FMC that I love to read about.

This book has some great romance in it, but it didn't overshadow the plot at all. I was interested throughout the entire thing and never once got bored and I loved the bonus chapter. I felt like we really got to learn more about Camille's family and the people Nero and her grew up around. And don't even get me started on the character art. Sophie's artist nails it every single time.

With my rating system being:

<1 Finished it but wished I had DNFed instead. Several major criticisms.
1 Not the worst thing I've ever read but wouldn’t read it again; probably one major gripe.
2 Meh. No major sins but but don’t like it enough to buy a physical copy. It's fine. Just fine.
3 Liked it and will casually seek out a physical copy to have in my library
4 Thoroughly enjoyed it and have no major criticisms; will recommend to others, read again, and consider a special edition version
5 ABSOLUTELY FERAL FOR THIS BOOK, will not shut up about it, will maniacally and immediately seek out a special edition and/or bind one

I’m giving this a 4. What makes this slightly weaker than the two preceding books, in my view, is that the author didn't build Nero up as a character as much as I wished she had. I felt less fleshed out than the characters of the previous books which bummed me out, because Camille was well developed and Nero could have been REALLY compelling. Overall though it was still a great installation in the series!
