A really enjoyable and unpredictable story. The characters were flawed but I was still rooting for them and it was so interesting the way they had to grapple with their own flaws. The story was clever and engaging. It didn't move me the way other CH books have, but it's well worth reading.

This one had me saying “Never Never again.” 😩

Started strong with the mystery vibes and that whole memory-loss concept, but whew—somewhere around the middle it just started dragging like it forgot where it was going (ironic, right?). Chemistry between the characters? Meh. Twists? Predictable. And that ending? Felt like the authors dipped mid-sentence and said “figure it out.”

Honestly, I stuck it out hoping for something deep or redeeming, but nah. Just vibes and confusion. Cute premise, messy execution. I’m good.

Updating ratings from earlier this year

1.5

Okay so I am giving this a 3, which I think is generous. This book had potential to be so good, and although I didnt hate it, there was so much that just was not resolved

Why the hell was Charlie kept hostage for a day and then just nothing happens!?! She finds out she has a half-sister....not relevant??

There seems to be more about this family feud....then...nothing.

I just feel like there was so much this book didnt answer that it took away from what I would have liked.
mysterious

I started off intrigued; this is definitely an interesting premise for a book. Watching Charlie and Silas scramble to put together the pieces of who they are and what is happening in their lives had me hooked.  The love story is cheesy with a major Romeo and Juliet vibe surrounding it, but the voodoo-y memory loss was interesting enough to hold my attention. The twist leading to Part 2 made it even more interesting. The ending was definitely a let down, though.
