It was so wonderful to be reunited with the characters from There There. I appreciated the opportunity to see how intergenerational trauma can affect so many even many years in the future. This was also such a sympathetic and empathetic look at addiction. There was no moralizing, only empathy, which was very beautiful. Because I was so familiar with the characters from There There, I don't remember much of the first couple parts of the novel. Additionally, there was no big climax this story was working towards. It was very much just slice of life, which I do think affected the pacing a bit negatively. But, I'm very glad to have read it.

I have not yet read There There but this stood alone successfully.  Loved the first half which established the context of intergenerational trauma for the more detailed present day story of the second half.
