This book is not about consensual nonconsent, it is not sexy. It is literally about rape and brainwashing, and everyone -literally everyone - fails the female main character. It is the epitome of what is wrong with everything everywhere, and is exhausting and depressing as all f*** to read. It did nothing but disgust and anger me.

This was a weird book. Yes this is erotica but it's VERY heavy on the bondage and submission, there are very few "typical" scenes and of those none are exactly consensual.  The writing itself wasn't very good either, I've only read one other Anne Rice book so I don't know if this is her typical writing style. She definitely overuses the words "little", "balls", and "spank" a lot. The biggest ick was when Rice makes a point of saying that some of the princes and princesses who are enslaved are 15/16 years old. I won't be reading the remaining books.

Overly indulgent. Repetitive. Tedious second half.

Mostly sexual assault and bad bdsm boundaries. I Hope no one is using this as actual bdsm practices.

Not for the faint of heart, this is an explicit BDSM fantasy based on Sleeping Beauty. If you want to have any semblance of a good time, get your expectations straight: this is unadulterated porn, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything else. There is no plot, and characters are there purely as sexual objects.
It’s not my personally preferred flavor of erotica, but I think it is well-written and erotically candid. (You’re not going to find Anne Rice using any coy euphemisms; she’s not afraid to call body parts what they are.) If BDSM is your thing, you’ll probably enjoy this.
