Okay so, I read a lot of really spicy books that could be classified as total smut but this book was absolutely insane. I kept reading and was equal parts horrified and curious what the heck was going to happen. Just when I thought it wouldn’t get worse...it did.

Beautiful, fevered, completely unrealistic. One of my earliest introductions to erotica. Fits nicely, if a bit strangely with the fact that Sleeping Beauty was my favorite Disney film as a child. Definitely had a huge impact on my sexual development, which says a lot about how sheltered my childhood was.

It starts with a sleep kink that is obviously non-con (not consented). From there, it remains dub-con (the lines of consent are blurred).

The world-building and plot are structured well, but I stopped reading because there were a few kinks that didn't make sense to the plot. Kitten-play was out of place, for one.

I'm a fan of Anne Rice's work, but this one is a miss for me. I enjoyed what I could. This would have been a 3.50-star from me.

I do not recommend this to anybody, this is a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible book, it's purely about cruelty to man and woman, rape and all bad things that's disgusting. This shouldn't have been written or even thought about. I feel so bad about Beauty and felt so sorry for Prince Alexi, no one should ever experience such things. Sex is supposed to be happy, making love and all, but all ever was in this book is rape, rape, rape. I want to burn everybody in this book alive. Arrrgg! There was never a sexy time, a kilig moment about this book and I hate it that I want to erase it off my brain, wash, bleach my brain off it. I hate it, just hate it. I'm so sorry I'm hating a book too much. :(

CWs: rape

This was a very *interesting* read. I'm glad I took a chance on it, and I have to give Anne Rice props for exploring this side of her writing, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

For fans of erotic romance, beware that this is not, in fact, a romance in any capacity. It's reminiscent of Madonna's SEX book in that it truly is a series of fantastical situations without much intimacy tying it together. Cool, just not my thing!
