It is rare that I set a book down because I don't like it. Generally I have to stop because I don't have the time.
Despite my love for Anne Rice's other writing her erotica sucks! I would not call it literature and I would not call it erotic. It is not captivating in any way. It's unfortunate because I believe that there is a lot of potential with her story line but, The Claiming of Beauty is nothing but one perverted bondage S&M scene after another.
Don't get me wrong...I believe that when written properly these fetishis can be quite compelling and titillating.
I have been sorely disappointed by the spastic and smutty style that this book was written in.

I haven't read anything like this before. It was dark, sexual, and at times made me uncomfortable. Rice's writing is very flowery and flowing which adds an interesting layer to the darker moments. The narrorator on the audio book is very good.
