Actual rating: 4.5 ★
As the book markets itself, it is indeed a great book on how life goes on, even with grief and love. While I read the book, I was so connected to every character, as even though this book was in first person, it displayed the MC’s, Louisa, and her friends’ lives. When there was the open ended epilogue, I was praying it didn’t mean that something bad happened as I was so attached to everyone. It’s also such an un-put-down-ble book as well, I literally could’ve read it all in one sitting if I had the time.
Though, the pacing at some parts was odd, especially at the ending 60 pages. And, the love interest, Frederick, who was introduced in the second chunk, while seeming to be a good character, really does feel flat at times and just centered around Louisa.
It just shows human life - childhood friends, grief, relationship issues, depression, childhood pets, the fear of death, and aging. That, anyone can relate to.
