This book started out slowly, but picked up once Carl and Camilla got to Mexico. The slow revelations of family secrets and lack of communication proved to be interesting.

The Turner vs Cooper feud left me stumped. I don't know if it was covered in some other series, or if this is actually the first time it was discussed. I felt like I walked into the middle of a feud and was missing several important details.

Overall, it was an ok book. A sweet romance that ended in an HEA fo r Carl and Camilla.

What’s wonderful start to a new series...

And it’s still set in one of my favorite places, Chance Creek. We’ve seen these two (Carl and Camilla) before, but their story is so unusual. Cora’s writing draws you into this tale but Camilla’s backstory is emotional and enlightening I couldn’t put it down. A true joy to read.

Millionaire Carl Whitfield has been head over heels in love with chef Camila Torres for three years. He took her out on a date but when Camila expressed that she planned to remain in Chance Creek to live her life he knew it was a game changer. He was determined to find a place and now three years later he has a lead on a ranch to buy and is ready to make his feelings clear with Camila. The only problem is the Turner vs Cooper feud that has them sneaking around trying to finagle their relationship as well as keep the long heated feud as far away from the two of them as possible but it is impossible. Can the couple who are meant to be together stay together?

This was charming, there is a lot going on and Camila has some family issues that creep up in the story. The Turners and Coopers are nuts, hilarious but nuts. I can't wait to see where this story goes.

Carl Whitfield and Camila Torres.
This is the first book in the series but it does refer to the previous Chance Creek series and some characters from that series appear in this story.
Neither Carl or Camilla are local to the area so they should be neutral to the feud that is going on between the Turners and the Coopers but they are adopted into the 2 families through business and general life.
They both like each other but lots of things keep them apart, the main issue being Karl has yet to actually 'settle' in Chance Creek and Camila is reluctant to get involved with him as she wants to stay. Despite the main issue there are lots of other things keeping them apart and the unraveling of these is part of their fight to be together.
Carl proves dependable and he tries so hard and Camila learns a lot about herself too.
The story is sweet, no cheating, no o/w or o/m drama and a HEA. There is plenty of material there for other characters for the rest of the series and the groundwork is laid for a few couples already.
Looking forward to seeing how the series progresses.
ARC.

It was fine, but I MUCH prefer her other books. Don’t feel the need to continue the series.

"He’s spent the last three years searching for the perfect ranch. She’s spent the last three years keeping him at arms’ length."

CUT TO:

Chapter 1:

Him: Sorry about whatever.
Her: It's cool.

UGH. BORED.

Carl is a wealthy man who dedicated his life to work and lost the woman when he put his company before his relationship. In his mind, he was trying to set up a good life for them. To Camilla, he was devoting more and more time away from her and the place she wanted to settle. She wasn't going to move and Carl had wanted her to consider it.

Now, Carl sold his company and is looking to put down roots. He's looking for the ranch he and Camilla talked about and he's determined to prove it to her. Camilla is busy running her restaurant and getting involved in her family's drama.

I thought the story was good, characters were engaging, but I found the romantic aspects lacking.
