Unfortunately, I am not a fan of the major plot conflict being miscommunication. While, I enjoyed the male love interest Alex Nilsen, I found our main character, Poppy Wright to be a little annoying at times with her lack of thoughts and consideration towards the relationship. The romance itself was cute and bubbly, especially the last few pages. The first 200 pages felt very repetitious with the vacations and it confused me sometimes with the back-to-back timelines between the past and present. The writing itself was pretty easy to read and I was engaged in where the couple were headed. However, I definitely would not recommend this book to someone that dislikes the miscommunication trope as heavily as I do.

Finally read the internet sensation book and author! And I see why there is so much buzz around it. I personally relate with Poppy, and as a flawed character, it makes her feel more real, the situation more real. I love the exploration of two sides to every story despite the entire book being in Poppy's pov. Though there were a few typos/confusing wordings, the storyline just gets me that I can't put those minor obstacles as a negative point.

Utterly amazing and utterly heartbreaking. Emily Henry’s novels make me believe in love… just not for me.

Content warnings: copious drinking, some drug use, parental abandonment/depression/grief, anxiety, pregnancy scare

Emily Henry books hit me right in the heart. It's the same way I felt seen and heard by Sarah Dessen as a teenager...just grown up and with more quarter life crises instead of comings-of-age. And like Sarah, Emily is officially going to be an instant buy author for me from hear on out.

I i wasn’t drowning in school work the book would have a higher score. However I can’t remember the name of the siblings and who is who but it’s taken me like 2 months to read it which is highly upsetting on my part but overall good summer rom com

This book was so cute and so well written, you really feel like you're transported into all of Alex and Poppy's vacations while reading. This book follows a nonlinear timeline so you're jumping between the current summer in Palm springs as well as every vacation the two characters have taken throughout their 12 years of friendship. As summer comes to a close and you're looking for a book to make you feel all warm and fuzzy, I totally recommend this one, you will not regret reading it.
