I’ve heard so many good things about Legendborn and how people loved it! Glad to get it now!!! Loved the new take on the King Arthur mythology and bringing in different groups the connection to magic/divine/dead but process and experience it in different ways. I loved the processing on grief and loss and how you learn to live with it. The magic system was something I hadn’t read before. I loved the twists and turns and the growth of many of the characters as well as calling out of prejudices and stereotypes. The ending was captivating and I can’t wait to jump into the next book! Can’t wait to see what happens next and hope they find Nick soon! Ughhh poor Bre and Sal!! Ohhhh and Will….love him. So heart broken for him.

Ties fantasy to reality with parallel magic systems that show the difference of colonizers & colonized people who borrow, not take and hold the earth, magic. Who celebrate ancestors in reverence not greed. Beautifully told, doesn’t shy away from the hard histories. Shows & explains Persistent Complex Bereavement Disorder. As well as the intricacies of shared grief, moving with and through grief, and losing & finding self while grieving. Not too predictable. Could be gayer.

Definitely worth the hype! Bree is such a strong character and goes through a lot development in dealing with the grief of the loss of her mom. Many of the characters are lovable and go through their own character development as well. I think my biggest complaint is that I found the world building confusing. I feel it all makes sense for the most part by the end, but it’s just a lot. 
Ps: Sel is way better than Nick. Brelwyn ftw.
