This book wasn't my favorite....I really enjoyed Michelle Hodkin's Mara Dyer trilogy so I was excited to read the story of Noah Shaw, but this novel just let me down. The plot is all over the place and very random with a plot twist thrown in at the end. Overall, I would say the story is ok but I don't know if I would continue with this series.

I received this as an eARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Noah has left Mara and must figure out what his next move is. He is approached by Mara’s grandmother, Mara, and she tasks Noah with saving his Mara. Noah is herded to London, by way of picking up Goose. He travels to his family home with M’s hope that he will remember the past that will help the future. Noah struggles to unlock his past, he has lost his power, and doesn’t know how to stop playing the game laid out by the Professor.

This novel was slower moving than the others. It was very melancholic and didn’t have the heart, fire, or wit of the other novels. I think that it was necessary to progress the story, but it was boring part of the story. I will still read the next one and I am excited to see what will happen, but this novel was a bit of a struggle for me.

??? dude what i was here for mara but i got a brokenhearted stubborn drunk dude and his bff instead. noah was getting more untrustworthy and shit, everyone was basically departing from each other now that mara my baby parted ways from them. though i enjoy goose's character, i never liked the idea that noah was using him and literally everyone else. he needed his anchor and he betrayed her. it's like the whole book is about noah shaw being not-so-glorious with painful, deceiving characters surrounding him. and jamie??? i really couldn't tolerate him without mara. everyone's fucked without her.

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Mara Dyer series was one of my favourites so I was thrilled when the Noah Shaw series was announced.
I was excited to be back with all of the characters and that it would answer the questions I still wanted answers to. The first book was a decent re-introduction. It had its faults but it was enjoyable. After reading the second installment, I feel like I have more questions and am more confused than ever.

This book definitely suffered from middle-book syndrome. It was pretty dull and nothing actually happened until about 80% in. More characters were introduced, plot lines appeared out of nowhere, and a lot of things that happened were too convenient and totally unrealistic. With all of that being said, the ending was pretty shocking and has made me want to keep going with the series instead of abandoning it like I had originally intended.

honest review for the reckoning of Noah Shaw:

This is my first time giving two stars to a book. I really liked Mara Dyer and Noah Shaw in the first three books and also in the first book of the Noah Shaw Confessions. But this book? What the hell happened to them? Why does Noah keep saying that he doesn't know the real Mara ? He knew her more than he knew himself. This book doesn't make any sense at all. It should be titled "The Adventures of Noah Shaw and Goose." ??? The book sucks because it's just Noah and Goose getting drunk plus the mystery of the Shaw family and Mara's grandmother. But I still gave this book two stars because Noah kept on calling her 'my girl' and because I was so delusional. Mara Shaw forever.

I absolutely LOVED hearing from Noah’s POV and seeing the dynamic between him and Goose. Michelle’s books never fail to amaze me and mess with my emotions (big time). I’m going to need the next one ASAP
