I have a few things to say about this book.
Firstly: i HATE Aled’s mom.
Second: Frances’ mom is literally an angel.

That was it.

This is not a romance but it is a love story. It will also hurt your heart at parts. Aled's mom was an absolute villain.

I loved Frances and Aled. They were messy and made some bad calls but they felt real, like true late teen, young adults. I just wanted them to be ok.

The side characters were also good. Frances' mom was awesome and Rain was solid af. Even Daniel added some nice dimension to the story.

I truly think this is the first book I've read that really nails the teenage internal dialogue. So much of this book, especially the main characters' struggles with academic pressure and college, really hit home. It was extremely relatable, and I can imagine myself connecting even more with this book if I had read it back when I was applying for college. And the main friendship was very refreshing! My only gripe is that the main plots didn't have a fully satisfying ending to me. However, I can see the Big Resolution Scene (which felt unrealistic and almost cartoonish to me) being very cathartic for other readers.

This was entirely different from my usual reads and I'm not sure what made me pick it up, but my god I'm glad I did. Real and relatable characters and a story that'll rip your heart out and put it back together.
Not to mention a full LGBT cast of different races.
If there is one thing this book teaches its that your grades aren't everything and they don't define you, the choices you make are more important.

ok so let's start this review. ngl, at first the pop-culture reference was making my teeth grind, but I think they made the charms of the book, especially since I could relate to them lmao. the characters were all so amazing and charming, I want to protect them at all cost. they were all so unique (THE!!! DIVERSITY!!!) and loveable ugh, Frances is me and I'm Frances. again, the diversity in this book was really good IMO!! nothing felt forced, we were introduced slowly to everyone's sexuality and nationality instead of getting info dumped at the beginning of the book. anyhoo, if you have this book on your bookshelf, GO

Couldn't relate more honestly just wow
