Finally finished the last bit of this book. A really honest raw story of grief. I found it hard to connect to at times do to a lack of experience with grief but can see how someone else could find comfort in this book

A beautiful depiction of grief over the course of a matter of weeks (from death to funeral). Important intersections of grief/spirituality/LGBT+. Would recommend to anyone wanting to know more about how it all feels, and those ready to seek comfort and solidarity from reading of another’s experience of bereavement. Plus there are sausage dogs.

A honest, raw account of the first few weeks after Coles' partner, David, died. So raw that, at times, it feels voyeuristic. However, I think this will provide solace to anyone who has lost someone. Coles doesn't provide any answers - he just makes clear grief is not something you can escape as much as you might want to, and you cannot control how you think or feel (or, at times, how you behave).

Author is very open about his grief at the death of his partner ;it felt like a very honest book, but sadly I came away not liking him very much.
