4.01 AVERAGE

I enjoyed this book, it is part of a series, but is fine to read as a stand a lone, likeable main characters and i liked that I didn't guess who the bad guy was and that it didn't end in the typical way of the main female character being caught by the bad guy and needing to be rescued. Also that the gay characters were both good and "bad"

Kate and Tristan get their first big case after officially starting their detective agency. Joanna, a reporter and the daughter of their client, Bev, went missing a decade earlier. Bev wants closure and has a wealthy significant other willing to pay for the investigation as well as the political clout to get all of the evidence boxes from the police.
In the meantime, Kate is also trying to keep the beach property operational and is relying on Jake to assist over the summer while Tristan faces financial setbacks due to his reduced teaching load to focus on the agency.
When Kate and Tristan connect Jo's disappearance to the missing persons cases of 2 gay men, they begin to wonder if she was on the case of a serial killer. As the information keeps coming back to a handful of names, they begin to realize that the killer may be closer to home than anticipated.

Gosh it feels an age since I read book two in the Kate Marshall series. The one thing that I am always guaranteed with any of this authors books though, is that they are well worth the wait.

I absolutely love Kate and Tristan. They make a great crime fighting duo. Both bring so much to these books and I am already desperate for the next book in the series. There is just something about this pairing that I find almost comforting. I think it’s like any favourite crime series, such as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, Poirot and Hastings. To have a successful series, you have to get the pairing just right and for me, Bryndza has created the perfect working partnership with Kate and Tristan.

I love watching cold case shows on the telly so when I read the book description for Darkness Falls with Kate and Tristan taking on a case of the disappearance of a journalist from 12 years before, I was desperate to read more. I have to say this was such a clever storyline and as they start to join the dots and zone in on getting closer to the truth, I seriously couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out just what had happened to Joanna all those years ago as well as the missing men.

Darkness Falls had me from the get go. It’s one of those books that once you start reading, you forget about everything else as you are so engrossed with the case and Kate and Tristan’s quest to discover the truth. One of the best storyline’s I have read in a crime thriller book in a while and I could feel the build up of excitement inside of me, the closer we get to that all important climax and boy what a climax! I had to pick my jaw back up from the floor. How it all comes together just showcases how brilliant this author’s writing is. An exciting and thrilling read that will leave you desperate for more!

Another amazing book from Robert Bryndza.

I really have become a huge fan of all his work.

The suspense, drama, personals life’s and actually playing along guessing who did it and what’s going to happen next.

I really enjoy all the mini storylines that go with the main story, as well as getting to know all the characters and feeling part of their world.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next book and what is in store for Kate and Tristan.

The Kate Marshall series is getting into its groove with the third installment, Darkness Falls.

Kate and Tristan's business is finally on its first big case, and man a red herring or two is thrown in to keep the reader guessing.

Each time I thought I had a clue on what was happening, another layer, another twist was added that had me questioning what I thought.

I enjoyed both Kate and Tristan's POVs as this story wove its way to a surprising ending. It could have all become a bit convoluted, but Bryndza brought it all to its fascinating end very well.

This is a fast paced, at times hard to read (not the writing, what happens in the story) tale that left me wanting more of this series.

Another good Kate Marshall story, though I saw the plot twist coming quite a bit before it did.

Boek leest weer heerlijk. Ik miste alleen de spanning. Had voor mij spannender gemogen.
