“Everything had begun with such promise. And then, like a windshield chipped by a tiny pebble, the chip turned into deep cracks that spread until there was nothing left to repair.”

Okay this was super fun and totally gave me Gone Girl vibes. I flew through this. The Last Mrs. Parrish follows a seemingly perfect, affluent family as they come into a new and unlikely friendship with a young woman named Amber. Just when you think you know the direction this story is going, it pivots and leaves you guessing.

I was drawn into this story from the very first pages. I really loved Daphne as a character and was heartbroken to keep hearing everything she had to endure. Amber is not a likable character, but she’s very interesting and fun to read. I was starting to get a little bored at the middle point, and some of the cons were feeling too unrealistic. That is until we started hearing Daphne’s perspective and my world flipped upside down. The second half of the story had me feeling so many emotions; dread and sick to my stomach at times. Overall I enjoyed the conclusion of the story and am excited to read the sequel!

Sadly, this just wasn’t the book for me. Definitely check trigger warnings before reading. If you’ve ever had a close person in your life whether romantic, relative, or friend that is a literal psychopath and/ or narcissist then I would not recommend this book. People who do not have these triggers seem to enjoy this book more :)

it was so much better than I was anticipating. I wasn’t expecting there to be different plot and strengths within the characters. It exceeded expectations I had.

Love love loved this one! After reading about the controversy between this and McFadden's The Housemaid I had to read it and I must say, if the rumors are true, which to be clear I don't think so, The Last Mrs. Parrish is 100x better. The characters in this are so well written I found myself filled with anger, fear, sympathy, horror, and everything in between as I read. Constantine did a marvelous job really brining the readers into the story and building a world that felt like you were in the story watching it unfold, each twist more mind-blowing than the previous.

I think this was actually an interesting read and a deviation from what I would normally enjoy. It was very very dark though. It was a clever plot which kept me interested, but I’d have a hard time recommending this book to many people given the nature of some of the content.
