It’s a bit like reading through the charming timeline of a funny twitter personality. Some of the anecdotes are fun and it gives a good view into what life is like as an ob/gyn doctor in the NHS.

As so many of the reviews say this book genuinely is both heart breaking and hilarious. I laughed out loud and had tears in my eyes reading it. It was an honest review showing the ups and downs of being a doctor in the NHS and highlighted some really serious problems that need to be addressed. I'd recommend this to anyone.
Equally hilarious and heartbreaking - now more than ever it makes you really appreciate the staff within the NHS!
While I appreciate what this book did in raising awareness of the conditions junior doctors work under, and I did find the last chapter moving and Kay's message to the government to be impassioned and worthy, the rest of the book didn't work for me. The anecdotes sounded like they were made up to deliver punchlines, the diary entries more like ideas for a standup routine (which makes sense given that Kay is also a comedian and scriptwriter) than a realistic record of life as a doctor. The fact that many of the anecdotes didn't ring true tainted my impression of the whole book and, in my opinion, devalued the overall message.

Het boek is (onverwacht) grappig en ook leerrijk over de enorme tol die de opleiding tot arts eist van een individu. (Verhaal schets de NHS in de UK maar ik kan mijn inbeelden dat het soortgelijk is in andere landen).
4.5!
If you haven't read this yet, get it on your list. I generally read fiction but this is so readable for anyone. As I'm sure most reviews say: it's funny, it's sad, it's harsh and it's joyful. With the obs and gynae focus I have learned many horrifying things about womanhood but in a very entertaining way!
