It was very insightful and I learnt a lot, however, I did miss a more action-oriented approach. In its current state the book informed me of the faullty state of the NHS around the time it was written, without offering possible solutions or encouraging the reader to take any action. That being said, it did end with suggestions on how to be there for family members and friends who work at the NHS, which was important.

i thought this book was really engaging and conveyed the message of the book beautifully. i thought it was really clever to use the medium of diary entries to show life in the hospital as it highlights the diverse interactions and experience that occurs in the hospital setting.

Equal parts heart warming and heart aching, a super insightful look into working for a public health service that’s underfunded, understaffed and undervalued. Anyone in health care will relate to many of these plights, and hearing it first hand alongside some witty sarcasm, quippy remarks and funny patient stories made for an excellent read
