It's entertaining which is why it gets 2 stars, but it's definitely not good as a sequel of Harry Potter.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting to like this book. First, because I'd read lots of bad comments about it and second, because I usually hate plays. Maybe the fact that I had very low expectations ended up working in its favour.
Okay, sure, this book has a lot of things that are complete bullshit, I mean,
Spoiler Voldemort has a daughter???? with Bellatrix??? WHAT THE FUCK, just NO. Also, I didn't undertand at all why Albus wanted to save Cedric in the first place, but maybe that's just me. The trolley lady scene was weird af, the time-turners plot was a bit farfetched, and some of the old characters didn't feel like themselves (especially Harry who behaved like an asshole, and Ginny felt just weird).

Nonetheless, it was really entertaining and funny. I enjoyed it.
Spoiler I really liked that Albus got sorted into Slytherin and his friendship with Scorpius is lovely (though I think they're totally gay for each other and I will fight you on this).

Of course, the cursed child isn't anything like the other seven potter books but that's okay because I wasn't expecting it to be so. I mean I don't feel like this is "the eighth harry potter book", just a nice additional story.
Anyway, I think we can all agree that the best thing about this book is Scorpius Malfoy. He's just wonderful and I think that if I read more of him I would get to love him just as much as I love his father.

I loved this! As far as HP is concerned, J.K. Can do no wrong in my opinion, I only wish this story was made into 3+ books rather than a play.

I enjoyed the book, but the fact it was a screenplay threw me off and took away some magic. Wasn't bad, still prefer the original series.

I feel so underwhelmed. This shouldn't be linked with the rest of the HP series. This is more Fan Fiction and clearly fit into the category of drama since time jumped all over the place. Not all the characters were very well developed. Albus was an annoying brat. I couldn't get past his "victim" phase. I also knew what was going to happen with Delphi immediately. So there wasn't much suspense for me to look forward to. It wasn't a waste of time, because I DO want to know what happened so I can discuss it, but I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone.
