This was an enjoyable, easy read. I love Madinia’s character and her contrast to Calysian is comical and yet also laden with chemistry. The writing was super easy to read and flow through.

I enjoyed the characters, including the cameos that appear however I was getting the feeling that the “miscommunication trope” was slightly overdone by the end. I hope they figure out each others intentions in book 2! I enjoyed the teaser of the deities (which obviously are important) and I am curious to learn more about them.

The setting wasn’t always clear to me, but it also had been a while since I read the kingdom of lies series. I wasn’t clear on what continent they were on, compared to those previous books.

Overall, an easy, entertaining read and I will read book two when it releases next year!
