I wanted to like this book more than I did. I appreciate the writing about unique characters but sometimes this book just felt awkward.

This one was fun fast and cute. Won’t remember much about it in a year but it was a sweet holiday romance.

While my rating went up after finishing it, this book is very middiling in its romance. They're both kinda boring  and their chemistry isn't anything to write home about. I think the last 3rd picked up the pace and made me like them more.

This is a really good case in why romance books shouldn't exceed 330 in most cases. I want to spend my time reading something I enjoy and if there is little development over a long time it's not going to be fun. Also don't call something spicy if there's only 2 scenes, that's adding pepper to a dish and calling it flavored.

**2.5 stars rounded up**

I was so excited for Matteo’s story after reading Duke, Actually last Christmas of which I rated five stars. But, yikes. So This Is Christmas is not the book I was expecting.

1) Matteo came off as way too pretentious and clueless. I kept picturing him as 50 year old and not the 30 year old he is.

2) Cara and Matteo lacked chemistry.

3) I was completely bored……I skimmed a lot of it. Cara and Matteo’s conversations were mundane for the most part.

4) Part of the plot was an injustice to Pride and Prejudice.

Like I said before..yikes.

Management consultant Cara travels from her hometown of NYC to the tiny Alpine kingdom of Eldovia. She’s been hired to help the country modernize. Matteo, equerry to the Crown, is her liaison during her month-long stay. She’s put off by his traditional ways, and he by her brusqueness. As they get to know each other, will they find they have more in common than they thought?

This is a smart, sweet, slo-o-o-ow burn romance with a charming setting and a Christmas theme. The differences between the characters are more than superficial, and they both have to grow in order to make the relationship work.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
