While at times I struggled a bit to follow the book, I think that had more to do with my current difficulty focusing than the book itself. I found it just the right balance of silly and whimsical and heartfelt and genuine. It does give Hitchhiker's Guide vibes, but in a queer, musical rock band way.

I really liked this! Reminded me of hitchhikers guide with the level of absurdity, and it had some really nice heartfelt moments.

Take Hitchhikers guide, remove the nihilism, add the Eurovision Song Contest, and make it queer.

Very descriptive, very complicated world to keep track of. Surprisingly poignant for a book about Eurovision in space.

I expected silly space music fun - and while this book is that; the Absolute Zeroes and all the rest of the universe in all their ridiculous glory - it also has Danesh, Mira, and Omar, a messy, charming trio struggling with being perpetual foreigners in xenophobic Britain

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book.

I have read a different Valente book which I loved so I said why not see what else she had written.
Reading the blurbs, all I got was Eurovision playing in my head because that I know and love but you this book was a great surprise and I loved it.

The comedic timing was feeling on point with where the author was taking it and while I haven't read 'Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy' just a quote here and there but I can see why the blurbs mentions it.

The story starts out heavy in the comedy but then Valente comes in with the world building, the backstory of the characters are eventually revealed and the characterizations come to a good full circle.

Heath Miller was so instrumental for how much I ended up loving and enjoying this audiobook. He gave each character a particular sound that elevated them and made me fall for them and care what happens as the book went along.
