I honestly don’t think I’ve ever read such an underwhelming sequel.  If written well I think I’d really enjoy Luc and Oliver’s dynamic but this just didn’t hit the spot for me.  It dragged out unnecessary arguments, had predictable plot if
a bunch of weddings and a funeral

Although arguing is part of even then healthiest relationships, the amount in this book was downright unhealthy. It really put a downer on where live and made this a drag for me to finish. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this duology to anyone wanting a well written realistic queer romance reccomendations.

okay so for a lot of other people it seems that the ending was the largest issue with the whole thing, but controversially i thought that was fine, it was very in character. my biggest issue was the fact that i felt like i skipped four books between this first and second book because of that two year time jump, i feel like luc was missing a lot of dimension in this book, but i would also pay lots of money to have this book from oliver’s point of view, because he is genuinely an interesting character. overall it just felt a bit incomplete to me, i did actually love the message it was trying to send but i don’t think it ever got the chance to expand on the conversations it was trying to open.

People were LAMBASTING this book on tiktok so I was expecting worse but besides the constant argument about the concept of rainbows, which annoyed me to no end, I liked this book a lot. The ending is definitely a real standout, and I’m really excited for what this kind of meditation on marriage in LGBTQ+ romance means for the genre (if this book has an impact on the genre, which God I hope it does.)

I liked the first half a lot more than the second. The ending felt a little rushed and it just felt weird and out of character to me. The humor was one of the best parts for sure. It just felt like it went on for longer than it needed to, and the constant fights got a little old especially over the same topics. I loved the first book a lot because of the plot and the characters, but both seemed to fall flatter in the sequel.
