I finally read this novel. Not sure what took me so long -- it's a fascinating journey through a future that seemed all too plausible at one time. Frightening and riveting, I strongly recommend!

A worthwhile read, but hardly King’s best work. Drags its feet at the strangest places but ultimately builds up to a satisfying final act

Boy, this took a while.
I'm not a slow reader, but this book is, sadly, not very interesting. It took 100 pages before anything remotely interesting happened, and after that there were pages and pages and pages of boring bureaucracy with only very few instances of action.
Compared to other King books, this wasn't particularly well-written and had too much filler.

I did not love this book. But I liked it. The characters are loveable, the concept is one of the best. I am not sure how to rate this book, I am going between a 3.5, and to a solid 4 star.
The Shop is one of the most interesting things that I have read in a long time. The Shop is a fictional government organization that hunts down children that have special abilities, which Charlie McGee has a special ability to start fires with her mind. And the shop is after her and for her abilities. And they want it badly....

Trigger Warrnigs: Fire, animal death, racial slurs, racism, explosions.
3.75 rounded up to four stars.

My first Stephen king in such a long time. I’m reminded how much I enjoy his writing, even when it’s long and meandering.
Firestarter is a great story though, and I loved the whole dramatic tale.
