A beautifully illustrated book highlighting the dangers of climate & environmental change on our planet, highlighting in particular the effects on polar bears. Well written and not preachy this is an awesome book for younger and older readers alike.

This book explains the impacts of global warming, and what might happen if it continues. I liked the idea of this book, but I found it to be a little boring. I think that if I used this in my classroom it might not hold the attention of my students. Because of this, I’m not sure I would use this book in my classroom

I love the cause/effect format of this book. It makes it easy to see the impact the animal has on its environment.

Lots of good information here. The illustrations appear to be geared toward younger (elementary-aged) children, but the information seems to be better suited for older children. Can still use with younger students, would just need to offer a lot of support.

I support independent bookstores. You can use this link to find one near you: http://www.indiebound.org

This beautifully illustrated picture book describes how melting sea ice, caused by climate change, is endangering the polar bear population of the Arctic, and further explains the domino affect this will have on the ecosystem. To many, polar bears in the Arctic seem far away and disconnected from the rest of the world, but this book clearly shows how ecosystems affect each other, and how the results of climate change are already spreading ever more south from the Arctic. I also love the diversity in this book - Indigenous Alaskans and a left-handed young black scientist!

This is the second book I've read by this author and it is once again illustrating what would happen if a certain animal species was to disappear. In this case, we're talking about polar bears.

The author first explained the habitat

followed by a brief exploration of polar bears' evolution (to explain the reason for the different fur colour, mostly)

concluding with what is threatening the polar bears existence and why/how.

Once again, the illustrations were adorable and greatly helped to illustrate both the habitat and the problem even for really small children. But the book isn't just cute, nope. Despite it being for really young readers, the author had a wonderful way of still conveying the facts and packing lots of information into the text without burying the reader under them.

As with the other book, this, too, had a small secton in the end that gave tipps on how to help should one want to get involved. Fantastic addition to any library and I hope the author will create many more such books.
