I enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I was going to I have to admit as I usually steer clear of anything paranormal! Likeable characters & a well written plot made for an enjoyable read.

Beautiful prose, and a fantastic introduction to some Chinese afterlife folklore.
I appreciated the overarching mystery, wrapped in a kind of love story, but still focused on Li Lan’s strength, independence, and tenacity.
Exceeded my expectations - had elements of a romantasy, but was so well rooted in folklore and history that it never felt exceedingly unrealistic.

Personal notes- look into more Malaysian folklore. Beautifully written - fully of whimsy, a dragon, and tradition.

This book drew me in and captured me. I was captivated by the Chinese spirit world. I didn't want the book to end.

This was not what I had expected. The novel had a blend of supernatural as well as history, but I was expecting a more romanticized historic novel. I should have taken "The Ghost Bride" more literally. But it was still a decent romp through Chinese folklore and superstitions I grew up with.
