Cute book. I probably liked it mostly because of the English major connection, but it was a good way to pass the time without having to pay too much attention to it.

Not deep; not difficult; a nice, easy, refreshing summer read. My favorite parts of this book were the descriptions of the small college town - reminded me a lot of Clinton, NY.

A good chick book. Haven't read one in awhile. I do enjoy reading stories about the bond of girlfriends.

This was a cute story about college friends supporting each other and embarking on reinventing themselves. This book made me wish that I would receive a windfall to pay off my student loans and use the rest to go for a dream job. I enjoyed the four girls and I liked that they got to become a little family again I wished I could have the same sort of thing with my college friends and be able to go back to my college house and live with them again. I had an issue keeping track of the names and story lines and the guys, so that was confusing at times and distracting. I also felt some really juicy parts were glossed over and I wanted some more drama. But, overall, I enjoyed the story and the four friends.

This books was an easy, fluffy read. Nothing too exciting. Classic story of friendship. Not Kendrick's best book but still worth a read if you have nothing else to read. I think my favourite book of Kendrick's is still "Nearlyweds".

A low three.
Four friends convene in their college town after the death of a fifth urges them to follow their dreams. Together the girls rediscover themselves and each other. They each search for their perfect mate, but must first become content with who they are.
Sorry, but I found this while book to be a little trite. There were no big surprises and all received a happy ending. While I am not against happy endings at all, it just seemed too easy. I would be thrilled with the happy endings if they took a little more effort to get there.
was surprised that they sold Henley House. I thought perhaps they would return there annually - I like the idea of the one constant being their friendship no matter what.

College friends lament paths not taken. One of the friends passes away from lupus, and she gives each of her four friends $250,000 to explore the paths not taken.

The characters could have been stronger. The only one who you could tell was talking without her name being attached was a non-friend who was the archenemy of one of the main characters. It was hard to keep everyone straight because they all seemed the same, albeit with different occupations and names.

There is no mourning for the recently departed, which I found odd and didn't seem to be realistic. I know the story is focusing on the main characters and their second chances, but you would think there would be more than one short page that mourns the benefactor who left them this wonderful opportunity.

The book ends tidily, perhaps a little too tidily.

Probably 4.5 stars? Not an all-time favorite but definitely not less than 4 stars. I'm not sure if this was a case of the right book at the right time, or if I just really loved this one, but either way- so glad I read it. I needed something with no hype and non-YA, and this delivered in spades. I loved the cozy, college campus vibe (even though they were all 10 years out of college, just living somewhat on the campus) and the theme of second chances. Definitely made me think and smile and swoon (a LITTLE bit). The romance was somewhat surface-level but I did enjoy it. Great ending, too!
