I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read it as a virtual read aloud and wish that I could have actually been with my class to discuss it and break it down further. I think some of the content is a little above my fourth-graders true understanding but any glimpse into different cultures, worlds, religions, etc is so important.

Timely and much needed story

It's June 27, 2021 and the news has reports of American airstrikes on the Iraq-Syria border. I am so happy that this book is available for the immigrant and refugee children who are now in America to be able to read and feel seen. This story is beautifully written and very well crafted. My heart ached for Jude and her family as they dealt with separation, not knowing the fate of the brother, trying to adjust to America, racism, Islamophobia, learning English, and living with American family members.
