To Boldly Go: How Nichelle Nichols and Star Trek Helped Advance Civil Rights by Angela Dalton

I really like this story, but didn't find this to be the most cohesive or compelling presentation.

I loved this brief history of Nichelle Nichols and the impact her role on Star Trek as Uhura had on young Black people, especially young women. I'd read a bit about Nichelle's encounter with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Hidden Figures and I thought this book did a nice job of talking about the importance of not only that encounter, but of Nichelle Nichols and her time on television. A great little biography!

A great short picture book biography about Nichelle Nicholls - a black woman cast as one of the main characters in Star Trek. Don’t miss the Author’s Note about her work with NASA and diversifying the space program.
