This book tackles so many issues in our society today all through the lens of censorship of books in libraries. LGBTQ, Women's Rights, Racism, acknowledging America's racist past, rape, drug use, gun violence. There's plenty more that is not coming to mind right now. I was impressed with how many topics were covered.
This book is not nuanced (and it shouldn't be when it comes to censorship). It does feel like it's hitting you over the head sometimes. The characters, especially the book banners, are kind of like cartoon villains. That being said we've all seen these types on the news and social media.

A fun book that helped lighten my mood around the state of things at the moment. I enjoyed the first half of the book more, which felt like a collection of short stories.

When a small town busybody decides to spearhead a book-banning campaign, she makes her own little lending library to fill with "acceptable" books. But when someone secretly switches those dust jackets onto the banned books, the town is transformed but what they actually end up reading. This book was funny, heartfelt, reflective, and felt very on the nose for today. There is an overarching plot, but many of the chapters focus on different people in the town, so lots of characters! It does get tied up fairly neatly at the end.
