I received a copy of From Ashes courtesy of the publisher in exchange of a review.

Cassidy has a screwed up home life, and wouldn't be able to function had it not been for her best friend and life line Tyler. He has saved her in more ways than he probably knows, and decides to take her to Texas with him, when he goes to college. They end up moving in with Gage, and the sparks between Cassi and Gage are instantaneous. The problem? Tyler is in love with Cassidy, and is waiting for her to see that she feels the same towards him.

I really liked From Ashes, but often times felt the story was a little unbelievable. Not that I'm an expert on child abuse, but the extreme levels that Cassidy experienced, even coming into contact with a doctor and teachers, I just can't believe she made it as long as she did in her house, and didn't turn out completely inept with dealing in reality. That aside, the romance was spicy between Cassidy and Gage! I couldn't get enough of him, maybe because he was a true southern boy, or just because he was so hot! The main flaw he had, communication issues, seems to be a general thing between males and females. At the end of the day tho, we ended up with a happy ending, and I do love a fairy tale romance.

I bought this book because it was super cheap on Amazon, but it wouldn't be worth it if it were free. For one thing, it wouldn't end! There were so many parts I thought it should be done, but I still had more than 50% to go. Then there were the awful characters....Cassidy was the most worthless heroine. Whiney, childish and ridiculously insecure. But of course she was perfect and everyone loved her and wanted her, but there was no discussion of why she was so great, except she was a fantastic cook (wtf?)
Awful, horrible, do not read

DID NOT FINISH

I did not finish this book. I got to around 15% and then I gave up. It was just too ridiculous and cheesy and gave me a headache. It reminded me so much of Because of Low by Abbi Glines. It was essentially the same book with different names and setting. Needless to say Because of Low was the better of the two because, even though I didn't like it that much, I actually managed to finished that book.

I don't normally give one star reviews but I really really didn't like this book and even two stars seems too generous.

I feel like most people have that friend who likes to tell melodramatic obviously made up stories, this is the novel she wrote. It's without a doubt completely ridiculous.

Every single man who entries this story is obsessed with the female lead Cassi. Not just she's super pretty and they like her, which seems normal for books. I mean they don't care she has a boyfriend they still need her, have to have her! They tell her boyfriend to his face they were going to bang her... No one acts like that in real life!

Spoiler
The fact that everyone seemed so ready to forgive Tyler for what he did is just stupid. He almost killed Cassi. He didn't pick up a knife and stab her or anything like that but she almost died because of him. plus say it with me, blackmailing someone into having sex with you is rape!
The hot fudge sundae.

Just a few things got to me.

1. The scars. They were mentioned in the beginning and about one other time throughout the whole book. She wore revealing clothes but was never selfconscious like before and nobody ever commented. What about when she got tattooed? What about when she showed them off?

2. Tyler. His character was so confusing. His was a dick. He was her friend. He was manipulative. He was her boyfriend. Sure, he was there for her in some pretty rough times in her life but how was he helping her by keeping her from someone she really liked and making her unhappy? And he forced her to be with him! He disgusted me. He lied to her and made her look bad. I'd be dammed if I ever let someone like that walk me down the aisle.

3. Too many guys fawning over one girl. Ugh. Its fine that she get hit on but most of the guys were annoying, trying to steal her from her boyfriend. And that's not halfbad but for her to receipicate those feelings while she has a boyfriend that she is madly in love with? Ugh. No. I was starting to get unattached at that point but she came to her senses before I could really get pissed off.

This is my favorite Molly book. Cassidy has a dark past and the only one that knows is her best friend Tyler. She goes off to college with him. He has been the only constant in her life. Well then she meets hot sexy cowboy Gage who also happens to be Tyler's cousin. Cassidy and Gage start a friendship of back and forth and Cassidy might just let someone else know about her life. Who will Cassidy run to when tragedy strikes again? This book was so amazing with the twists and turns and the love triangle.

This was one of the few stories I've read that was really a complete story and not just one story arc. Where most stories would end and you would say " I wonder what happened after the happy ending?", this story continued and took you through more of the journey. It felt like 2-3 books in one. I enjoyed it.
