I really enjoyed this one… it made me smile and giggle, although I did wish there was more relationship development between all the combos of characters.
Just a fun sweet easy to read YA romance novel. Would have given 3.5 stars if there was the option. But closer to four than three stars
rep: biracial (Chinese-Indonesian, white) protagonist, Chinese-Indonesian protagonist and side characters; (Chinese-Indonesian author)
I was so looking forward to this book and am so sad it was not very good...honestly this is more a personal thing so I hope it works more for you than it did for me
idk if I grossly misread the summary or if what I remember reading was an old summary, but I thought they both knew going in that the other's families catfished the other?? but they don't??? and I feel like that kinda ruined the story because they spend almost the entire time (and I'm not even exaggerating) being like "oh no i'm starting to like [sharlot/george] even tho they don't know that my family pretended to be me!!" like that is so much of the inner dialogue when they're together that I don't feel like they actually got to know each other
other than that, I feel like the story really dragged for the middle third, again because of the aforementioned repetitive inner dialogue. I did like both of them spending time with their individual families but other than that...yeah :///

A novel with a set of characters with on-point development and an adorable romance. It is a refreshing story where I loved being absorbed in Indonesia's beautiful culture, and hey I went and had Indonesian Gayo coffee beans.
3.5 this was great til about 85% and then it just got absurd. the society is so buttoned up the girl cant even wear a bikini on a beach but then they can do a live in front of hundreds of thousands of people both saying their innermost embarrassing sex secrets? and the audience loves it? please
