4.5* This is not a romance novel, this is the story of a young shy girl blossoming into a woman and developing into her identity

Although the lack of communication went on too long, in my opinion, and got very frustrating. The overall story was heartbreaking and amazing. All the characters have so much depth. I loved Luna and Knight, but Dean and Rosie stole the show and broke my heart.

I was not emotional prepared for this book. I loved it and the way the characters changed and developed. But the saddened towards the end killed me. Luna, a mute who stopped talking when her biological mother walked out on her at 5ish, also freshman in college who is deeply in love with her most popular senior in high school, best friend since they were born, next door neighbor - Knight. The way the author made this about so much more than their romance was so intriguing. Loved the side characters yet again. And how much Knight truly loved Luna! Also how Luna grew so much in that year. Best friends to lovers, amazing friend and family dynamics, death, heartbreaking, growth, high school/college days.

Me encanto este libro de auto superación. La verdad es que lloré con Rosie…hacía mucho que un libro no me hacía llorar.

This book started off so strong and then took a complete nosedive. Luna and Knight are neighbors and best friends. Completely inseparable. Ride or Die. It's the two of them against the world. And they are also secretly in love with each other. That's the part of the book that I loved. I ate up the beginning.

But then, it all fell apart. Knight, who up until that point was sweet and kind and a great friend, turned into a toxic asshole. And worse, the reasoning behind the personality shift was that he was a mean drunk. So, readers get glimpses of the man he can be while being forced to read page after page of Knight being cruel to the woman he loves.

Luna deserves better. I was rooting for her to leave him. I'm sorry, but this not a romance; not even a dark one.
