Oh wow!!

All the way through this book, I was saying, “this can’t be her debut!?!” Ronnie has crafted such an emotional, intentional, and beautiful second chance romance. I’m usually not a second chance girlie, but this book might have changed my mind. The mental health rep is wonderful and written with such care. Friends to lovers is my favorite, and this truly did not disappoint. I need the next book in the series, now!

This book felt like a comforting hug on a tough day—packed with emotions, heartbreak, and just the right amount of spice. For a debut, Ronnie Mathews really impressed with Those Two Words. Patrick and Johanna’s story had me deep in my feelings, and I wasn’t quite prepared for the emotional ride it took me on. A childhood friends-to-lovers romance mixed with a single dad storyline? I’m usually skeptical about reading second-chance books with a single parent, and this was my first one, but Ronnie did it perfectly!

"It's okay to not be okay."

I was lucky to receive an ARC of Ronnie Mathews's debut novel, Those Two Words (book one in the Sutton Bay Series). It follows the story of Johanna and Patrick.

I loved Johanna and Patrick's story. I enjoyed learning more about them and their history together.

I saw pieces of myself in Johanna, which made me relate to her so much, especially when it came to her anxiety disorder and depression. I felt seen.

I had a love-hate relationship with Patrick and how he initially treated Johanna but I could also understand why he was the way he was towards her.

Seeing Patrick help Johanna with her panic attack and how he cared for her was everything. Despite what happened in their past, he still wanted to be there for her. That man has a heart of gold and the patience of a saint.

Everyone deserves to have their own Patrick in their life. Someone who stands beside you during your bad days, but also makes your good days even better.

I enjoyed Those Two Words and thought it was a good debut novel.

I cannot wait to read the next book in the Sutton Bay Series!

Thank you so much to Ronnie Mathews for this ARC

Book: Those Two Words
Author: Ronnie Mathew’s
Rating: 4/5
Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️

Those Two Words by Ronnie Mathews was a beautiful surprise for me, especially as second-chance romance isn’t a trope I typically seek out.

Patrick and Johanna’s story felt like an emotional hug—balancing heartbreak, mental health struggles, and the sweet nostalgia of childhood friends to lovers. What stood out most was the genuine portrayal of mental health challenges, particularly Johanna’s experiences with anxiety. It made her journey feel relatable and authentic. Patrick, as the patient and kind single dad, stole my heart with his unwavering support and care.

If you’re looking for a romance that balances heartfelt emotion with swoon-worthy chemistry, this book is one I’d recommend!

I don’t actually know where to start with a review for this book.

This book draws you in and just doesn’t let you go. The highs, the lows, the spice… the feelings, the little details. This was a rollercoaster of emotions and I’m thankful for every one.

I think this book resonated with me more as someone who has experienced the same grief as the MC’s and I certainly had tears rolling down my face.
There were happy tears as well as sad ones!

I don’t want to say too much and give away any little details but little bits of symbolism and details throughout this book really gave it that extra something.

Daddy Patrick was 😜😜 and I just wanted to be Johanna’s best friend and give her a cuddle!

This book not only has so much love and care put into it, but it has so much awareness. This hits some hard topics and shows the effects of those hard topics in a very realistic and emotionally hard hitting way.

This book also has a lot of joy and a romance that made my heart POUND! Heavily recommend this read
