oh.my.gods! I just can't with this series!! the moment you start reading you're just instantly sucked into this story and the next thing you know you've read 300+ pages in one sitting!! even though there is many characters and a highly detailed plot, the story is not hard to follow along with. I only hope this series ends on a happy ending! 🤞

Epically fast paced but never feels rushed

This was a reread but considering that read was 13 years ago... I remember broad strokes and this book hit totally differently this time around.

I love this world, and this story just pulls you in from the start.

The twists are so blindsiding and you can't help but cheer for whoever's perspective you read from.

Bring on book 3!!

I enjoyed the plot, the story of this book. However there was so much over-the-top violence it actually detracted from the story for me. So many details were beyond gross for absolutely no reason but shock value. The villains are cruel for cruelty's sake. I don't know if I'm going to finish the trilogy. The ending of this book was pretty satisfying without needing to see what comes next.

It was a very hard read. The writing style was slow and the story was very slow to actually start. I got over a hundred pages and it hasn’t moved very far along. I also didn’t like the fact that the woman are treated more like sex objects than actual human beings. I also found that this author likes to use the word rape very often. One of the brothels that he wrote about allows men to physically hurt the woman and all they have to do is pay a bit extra! Ewww!!! I don’t care it was set after an invasion things like that have no place being in books. I don’t mind rape storylines as long as they are written with the understanding of the victims feelings as well as some justice. I feel like many fantasy books mention rape a lot and I honestly hate it. I want to read about magic and fake wars. Not rape or even a hint of sexual assault. I know this happens in real life but again these books are usually written in world that the author creates. I just don’t like it.
