This book was a lot like tshoeh, how both main character leave their previous life behind for different reasons, one for ticket out of hells kitchen and one forced to live as a "white woman" to be accepted.
I loved reading Kitty's pov because the sisters felt lacking. This didn't have a big emotional impact on me but it is still a really great book.
The western world made the standard person to be a white person, so when people such as african american, native american, mexican, latinos, asians and more are seen as a lower class. it is unfair because we are all the same by bones and flesh.
As a child I've been able to pass as white, I'm a native american with a brown mother and a white father. I never understood why people were mean to my mother and say she didn't deserve a white girl with colored hair.
