Interesting at first, but felt like it dragged and didn’t flow very well.

I really loved this book. Kitty’s storyline was so intricate, in depth and well written. I ate up the character development in that part of the book. That being said, there were some parts of Kittys plot that I found hard to follow, as there were a LOT of moving parts for a story that spanned like 80 years of history (a lot of characters and remembering who was related to who, characters with various names and affiliations etc). The story line of Elise is what took away from a 5 star rating for me. It was just meh and I didn’t love it. Overall, I ate this book up and couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend it! Great first read of the year. ⭐️

This book was really interesting and powerful! It was a bit slow for me to get into at first. The characters were complex and I cared about them, as they grappled with what the right thing to do was in each situation, there was nuance. I loved it.

The book started off really strong but kind of flopped in the end. I enjoyed the story but I thought it dragged on unnecessarily. It was hard to keep track of all the characters from the past.

Why were there so many characters? Why were there so many unnecessary plot points? Why was Elise such an annoying character? The first third of the book was interesting but I quickly figured out where the story was going and was bored and annoyed and just wanted it to finally wrap up. This felt more like a screenplay for a limited series that wanted a bunch of surprise guest stars.
