This has to be one of, if not the most beautiful book I have ever read. I am in awe at the beauty that Kahlil Gibran wrote. Almustafa's understanding of humanity, of love, of life, and the world is unique and stunning, and it made me rethink many of my actions and my approach to life, and has made me think about the importance of love and passion in all things we do.
I cannot say enough how moving this book was in all sections, in Almustafa's teachings on love, marriage, children, giving, eating and drinking, work, jornand sorrow, houses, clothes, buying and selling, crime and punishment, laws, freedom, reason and passion, pain, self-knowledge, teaching, friendship, talking, time, good and evil, prayer, pleasure, beauty, religion, and death (the main sections of the book). Each approach written in a wonderfully human perspective, that somehow encompasses Almustafa's love for his God and nature, shown to be both separate and the same.
A short, rather simple read that only took a few hours. I recommend it to anyone who has an interest in philosophy and religion, or anyone who simply wants to see a new, and positive, worldview.

A beautiful, moving book of prose that explores a fairly wide variety of philosophical and spiritual subjects in a rather short span. Can technically be read quickly, but is best to be savored. Some lines are so beautiful they made me tear up while reading.

This is a very great read. It's very short and very easy to read for a book on philosophy. I liked all of the different sections and agreed with most of the thoughts. It was a very quotable book and it really felt like I was listening to some wise man speaking in a town square as I read it.
My favorite quote:
"Yet you are not evil when you seek gain for yourself. For when you strive for gain you are but a root that clings to the earth and sucks at her breast. Surely the fruit cannot say to the root, "Be like me, ripe and full and ever giving of your abundance."
