Oh my gosh!! I inhaled this one, this captured me from the first page, and the giggles erupted from that point onwards. This was such a laugh out loud, all the feels kind of book. I loved everything about it and wouldn't change a thing. The banter, and everything in between had me swooning at this authors feet!! I had a goofy smile on my face the whole time reading this.
James and Winnie’s story captivated me from the first page to the last line, the chemistry is sizzling and the banter is witty but it’s the vulnerability that this couple share that took this story to another level, this book touched me on so many levels. There’s plenty of snarky banter, and some unexpectedly tender moments that left me feeling all breathless and swoonified. The enemies portion of this enemies-to-lovers story was the perfect amount of antagonistic exasperation without venturing into territory that felt too mean. James’ story, in particular, grabbed my heart in its clutches and refused to let it go. They both have dealt with some situations in the past that kept their hearts guarded and the last thing they were expecting was to fall in love. I just absolutely loved them together and how they understood each other, and complemented each other seamlessly. It was such a deliciously layered and complex romance, and I loved their vulnerability. I was cheering them on the whole way.
Emma St. Clair delivers an enemies-to-lovers romance that is full of laughs, feels, and epic chemistry. I devoured this book, completely swept up in the story, and I freaking loved it! It sucked me in from the very beginning and had me leaking some happy emotional tears by the very end. This is such a fun read. On top of that, it’s got achy tender feels, heartwrenching emotion and such a heart-meltingly-sweet romance....I loved James and Winnie’s story so much.

The story
James is setting up his craft brewery in Sheet Cake, Texas. Winnie has lost her job working for the mayor and is trying to sell her Neighborly app. James’ family and brother Pat convinces him to hire Winnie to help him set up the business. But James is a total grump and he doesn’t feel ready to hire employees, nevermind tackle the myriad of things to get the business up and running. The sparks fly but underneath the grump exterior James is enamoured with Winnie.
My thoughts
I really enjoyed The Buy-In, and this story connects where that story ends. Shew, James is super-grumpy, and it felt like Winnie must really have liked him to have accepted the behaviour he showed. The story moves really quickly and it feels a bit thin. There are hints that James shares slightly asocial behaviour with ties in with his sister Harper’s story in a previous series, but isn’t explored except to give hints that show how he experiences social anxiety. An easy romcom read.

The Bluff by Emma St Clair
I give this book 4 stars
Not only am I going to help James launch a successful brewery, but I'm going to find out what makes him tick ... and what makes him go boom.
The more he pushes me away, the more I'm pulled into his orbit. It's a battle of stubborn wills, and I don't plan to concede anytime soon.
We return to Sheet Cake Texas (l want to live here) for the 2nd book in the Graham series.
Emma St Clair creates vulnerable and realistic main characters that have relatable struggles to contend with. Then she adds everyday life, chemistry, banter, feelings,
humour, animals and mishaps combined with the interference or help of family and friends in this small town. The result…..a well written, easy flowing, entertaining and totally enjoyable closed door rom com that has left me impatient for the next instalment.
With thanks to Netgalley,Emma St Clair and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for my chance to read and review this book.

These Graham Brother… geeze! I am submitting my adoption application to be in the Graham Family. They are the best. I love that they love each other but still joke and poke each other.
James and Winnie are perfect for each other. Each has something heartbreaking in their past that holds them back. It’s so sweet to see them connect and form that bond!
Again lots of laugh out loud moments. Great second book and can’t wait for Chevy and Val’s book!

Yes. Always yes to an Emma St.Clair book, but especially this one. I devoured this book. I loved it so much.
It immediately was interesting and intense (but the good kind of intensity). It was too hard to put the book down, so I just finished it.
The dynamic between James and Winnie was incredible. There was so deep issues they were both trying to resolve to grow and it made them characters I was rooting for. The development of the other side characters was delightful and I can’t wait for the next book with Val.
