“Guess I’ll be getting that one-bed trope after all.”

“Collin looks at Winnie like she’s the most beautiful creature he’s ever seen. He’s not wrong. But I want to smack the look off his face anyway.”

“I’m sure she could handle you on her own. But that doesn’t mean she should have to. Leave.”

“and I barely keep myself from breaking into a grin. Jealousy is a look I like a little too much on her. Especially when it’s jealousy involving me. I stay quiet, happy to watch this play out.

“I have never given anyone as much as I give James in this kiss.”

“The voices in the hall build to a fever pitch, and I’m rubbing my head when a singular voice cuts through it all, the only voice I care about hearing.”

Of their own volition, my hands go to my hips. “Don’t you dare get in that truck, James Graham! You’re going to stand there and apologize, maybe grovel a little. Or a lot. The level of grovel is up to you. Then you’ll tell me, not the cat, you love me. Do you understand me?”

James crowds me, running his nose over my cheek, and I barely hold back from diving right into another kiss. “I don’t want anything about you to be temporary, Winnie.”

I step forward and wrap my arms possessively around Winnie’s back. “I don’t want to take one more step toward my future without securing you as a part of it.”

First of all he was so rude to her. I didn't even felt the chemistry between them. And I hate that his family was involved everywhere. I definitely don't love small town romance. And they have neighbourly app?? That's ridiculous!

I thought it's office romance so it might be in a city where he might be a billionaire but this wasn't expected. I hate the both characters. He hates to ask help? Whyy? No reason is mentioned.

Also I read some spoilers from author's reels yesterday where he gave her his work gloves because she wasn't wearing anything. I thought that was cute but he was very rude to her when he gave the gloves. I'm very disappointed.

This book started off great and I was hooked. I’m a sucker for a misunderstood grump. But I found myself bored for the last 1/3 of the story.

I just don't think small town romances are for me. I just can't do it.

Thank you Netgalley and Emma St. Clair for the gifted book!

Winnie is a woman who is comfortable in her own skin. But how she feels about her work life is a BIT more complicated... Her best friend got her a job with her grumpy BIL and when I say grumpy, I mean the king of the grumps. But unfortunately he is as attractive as he is unbearable.

James just wants to brew his craft beer. He was happy with his backyard operation, but then his dad bought a town and now he's opening a huge brewery with his family. And he has to deal with Winnie, whose help he doesn't want, but who he  finds distractingly appealing.

Both Winnie and James have to contend with the feelings of their pasts if they want to move forward in life and maybe in a potential relationship. Will those emotional hurdles be overcomeable or will they be a stumbling box in the way of happiness?

This is an enemies to lovers, workplace, one bed (but keep it sweet) romance that checks all the boxes. It's funny, charming, and oh so irresistible! Emma St. Clair has not disappointed me yet. She is an auto-read author for me now.

This is a closed door romance. It's the second in a series but can be read as a standalone.
