I mean, it is exactly what you think it is. I am glad Ronan Farrow did all this research and made it through the obstacles — the book gives insight into seedy network tv politics, abuse of power, etc, and provides a play by play of his process of writing and NBC’s hesitancy in breaking the Harvey Weinstein story. but I would disagree w what another reviewer said abt it being “required reading;” it’s just fine.

(audiobook) My opinion of this book is summed up by this headline:

At first I wanted to switch to reading it in print because the voices were incredibly distracting and weird. But I opted to just grit my teeth and finish it.
In the end I decided it was good to know that Ronan, the self-deprecating wunderkind, makes flawed decisions just like the rest of us.

This was amazing. The usual adjectives just don't apply. It was beautifully written, yes. It was engrossing, yes. I recommend it completely, yes. It changed the whole world for me - politics, the news, everything.

I listened to the audiobook.
Every once in a while I feel bad for generalizing about men, and then I read something like this. When you don't stand up for what's right you are 100% a part of the problem. Also, who the hell cares who Matt Lauer and Harvey Weinstein are? They aren't irreplaceable and they are just people like anyone else. I don't get this deference to money and power.

Great book. Inspiring work. Hard to read because it’s hard to know. We need to do better.
Inspiring. Great work. A troublesome topic that is so prevalent yet hard to grasp. We need to do better as a society. People need to be exposed. This cannot continue. It’s everywhere. And it’s disgusting.

Ronan Farrow is usually an author that I reach for and unfortunately the way that this book was written was just too long and repetitive. It was like watching a TLC show that replays the same scene both before and after the commercial...
