I enjoyed this book a lot until I was near the end, which was unfortuately unbelievable and disappointing. The characters are pretty good, though, and the two timelines work pretty well together. The book has inspired me to read Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar, the fictional account of the author’s time at the Barbizon Hotel.
I’ve decided. I’m never going to finish you. I can’t even remember the characters names and they’re were pretty much all unlikable.
I almost stopped reading 12 times but I wanted to know the end. Enjoyed the Barbizon story. The 1996 story as trite and obvious. Made it difficult to keep going.

This one was alternatively enjoyable, frustrating, and boring. Rose fell kind of flat as a main character, but Darby's life in the 1950s was fascinating.
